Gemcell announces new suppliers

Gemcell is pleased to announce that Osram Australia Pty Ltd, Omega Power Equipment and Unistrut Australia Pty Ltd have been made Preferred Suppliers to the Gemcell group for the period 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011. The following companies are new Approved Suppliers to the Gemcell group for the same period: Eye Lighting Australia Pty Ltd, Eyres Safety Optics, Stokes (Australasia) Limited and Ventair Pty Ltd.

Gemcell becomes a member of IMELCO

As of January 1st, 2010 the Australian group GEMCELL Pty Ltd., becomes a member of IMELCO. As its twelfth member, GEMCELL will make a considerable contribution to the further development of IMELCO's position in the market place, not least because of its leading position in the Australian Electrical Wholesale Market.

The IMELCO Chairman, Mr. Simon Barkes, comments on the advantages of the new partnership: “The integration of GEMCELL is a huge step geographically and, from a commercial point of view, a significant move towards the further internationalisation of IMELCO. This decision will increase our representativeness while enhancing our attractiveness to major suppliers. In this way, we hope to further improve the terms of business for all our associated wholesalers and members.”

The Chairman of GEMCELL, Mr. Rod Harvey, emphasizes: “The partnership with IMELCO represents an important milestone in our efforts to consolidate GEMCELL’S market position within Australia and it now gives us an opportunity to have a global voice worldwide through IMELCO.”

Middy's join the Gemcell group

In July 2009, Middy's will join the Gemcell group.

Middy's, who have been in business for over 80 years have 83 branches across Australia. This brings the total nuber of Gemcell branches to 234 making Gemcell the largest independent electrical wholesaler in the country.

Middy's are particularly strong in Victoria and the Gemcell directors are pleased and excited to welcome Middy's to the group.

P&R Electrical join the Gemcell group

The Directors of Gemcell are pleased to announce that we have completed discussions with P&R Electrical and as a result P&R have been accepted as a member of Gemcell commencing 1st July 2009.

This will increase the presence of Gemcell in South Australia and bring the number of Gemcell branches throughout Australia to over 150.

We look forward to working with John Rhigas and Nick Pappas and are excited by this growth of the Gemcell group. We see this move as one which will increase the strength of independent electrical wholesalers in Australia.
