Save time and agro mounting double GPOs on wood

Have you ever chiselled a hole for a double GPO, then when it came to mounting it, found there was no wood to screw into because you made the hole too wide (Grrrr…!)

Mitch Maher, from Guildford NSW, suggests a better way to make the holes: take a 50mm holesaw and drill half way through the timber, then align the pilot drill on the edge of the cut beside the first hole, and drill another 50mmm hole all the way through. Then return to the half cut hole and drill it out. This will leave you with a hole that looks like a figure 8 on its side. Your double GPO should fit perfectly with enough timber to screw into each side.

Congratulations Mitch! You have just cut you for a $250 cheque from the Olex Cable Guy!
